The Louisiana Association of Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technicians (LANREMT) is dedicated to strengthening the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) profession through advocacy, education, and awareness. Founded in 1976, LANREMT collaborates with EMS associations across Louisiana to enhance the statewide EMS system and promote the highest standards of patient care.

 

LANREMT serves as the state affiliate of the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) and is a proud member of the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT).

As the only statewide voice representing more than 20,000 EMS personnel in Louisiana, LANREMT advocates for both career and volunteer providers. Approximately 20% of Louisiana’s EMS workforce serves full-time, while the remaining 80% are dedicated volunteers within their communities and workplaces. Support from corporations and individual contributors enables LANREMT to continue its mission of advancing EMS throughout the state.

 

LANREMT members actively participate in every major EMS board and task force in Louisiana, helping guide policy and system improvement. These include, but are not limited to:

• EMS Terrorism Preparedness Sub-Committee

• Louisiana Emergency Response Network (LERN)

• EMS Task Force

 

To further professional development, LANREMT sponsors an annual statewide educational conference, featuring nationally recognized speakers. Members receive discounted registration, and local LANREMT chapters regularly host workshops and refresher courses across the state.
